Different age groups are using equity release for different reasons. Here we have identified a number of spending habits to help you to identify people on your database who may be in a position to use equity release and ensure that your customers remain with you rather than shopping elsewhere:
poundsignimage.jpg 55-65: this age group are using equity release to counter the problem of mortgage debt such as interest only mortgages. Many are coming to the end of their term with no repayment vehicles. Equity release provides an ideal solution to this problem. This age group are also using equity release for home improvements and general lifestyle improvements.
houseimage.jpg 65-75: This age group are using equity release for moving house. This could provide two potential lead sources; downsizing as they enter retirement to raise cash, or upsizing to move into a bungalow which invariable are more expensive. This group are also using equity release for Inheritance Tax purposes and gifting to their children or grandchildren.
hammerimage.jpg 75+: This age group are maybe using equity release to plan for long term care provision, or make home improvement/disability changes to their homes. They could additionally have an old equity release plan with an uncompetitive interest rate. It may therefore maybe prudent remortgaging to lower rate, thus saving interest and increasing the inheritance for their beneficiaries.
