Personal Finance Society launches new events app

18 October 2016

The Personal Finance Society (PFS) has launched a new interactive events app, supporting tens of thousands of members who attend regional and specialist CPD events across the country each year.

The PFS Events App has been developed as a mobile version of the professional body’s recently launched events web portal, offering members a one-stop-shop aimed at improving the event experience for members.

“Members understandably expect new and alternative forms of communication, and digital forms a crucial part of our member communications strategy to reach a growing community of nearly 37,000 professionals,” PFS chief executive Keith Richards said.

“Well over half of our members view our e-communications on mobile devices, while only a quarter use a desktop and we will continue to tailor our communications content and format to cater to the evolving needs and demands of our members.”

The PFS Events App provides users with programming and support for upcoming events, historic attendance information and other functionalities including social media integration.

It provides full support for members before, during and after each PFS event, and also allows members to better engage with presenters and other attendees through networking and other professional development capabilities.

Mr Richards said the app represented the latest addition to the professional body’s digital communications strategy, which included a renewed focus on social media engagement.

“Social media offers an efficient and effective method of communication and we are seeing greater levels of engagement with our members via LinkedIn and Twitter, particularly at our events,” he said.

“Our LinkedIn groups provide a forum of discussion for close to 6,000 members and we have grown our Twitter footprint to nearly 5,300 followers.”

The PFS is focused on constantly improving its events experience, and earlier this year developed the PFS Events Charter, which drives the organization to deliver exceptional events that “set the standards for others to follow”.

The professional body recently introduced its own in-house registration software, supporting last-minute registrations, reduced waiting lists and higher levels of attendance.

The free PFS Events App can be downloaded on iPhone and Android smartphones, from the Apple Store and Google Play.
