Record December for self-employed inductions at Just Mortgages

14 December 2023

The self-employed division at national brokerage Just Mortgages is set for its busiest ever December for new inductions, as the division fast approaches 500 brokers.

For the very first time, Just Mortgages is holding three induction sessions in December, with one in the North and two in the South onboarding more than 30 new brokers in one month. It follows the best quarter of the year for new applications and Just Mortgages averaging around 20 new applications in both October and November.

2023 has been a bumper year for recruitment for Just Mortgages. In Q2, the brokerage received 52 applications to join its self-employed division and welcomed 48 new brokers in the first quarter of the year.

Applicants include existing self-employed brokers, as well as those from more corporate organisations looking for greater freedom. Employed brokers also continue to apply as they look to benefit from the opportunity to run their own business.

Alongside its employed division, which currently has more than 150 brokers, Just Mortgages provides a platform for self-employed brokers to work for themselves. Whether it is under the Just Mortgages umbrella, or utilising the ‘own brand’ facility, all brokers access ongoing mentoring, training and support with sales, marketing and compliance. Brokers also receive support in growing their business through expanding licence options, leadership training and recruitment support.

Carl Parker, national director at Just Mortgages, said: “Rather than winding down at the end of the year, we have been ramping up our efforts to meet the demand to go self-employed with Just Mortgages. Given the current climate and the leap of faith required to go self-employed, seeing such high and consistent levels of interest is hugely encouraging and a real testament to the valuable proposition we have built.

“That proposition has continued to evolve as the division has grown, enabling ambitious brokers to not only launch their own business, but write more business, enter new markets and eventually, expand their own team. A key component to this is the support structure put in place, increasing training routes through our learning and development team, and access to advice and real-world experience through our knowledgeable management team.

“With this structure in place, the talent in our division and a fantastic new cohort, 2024 promises to be an exciting year for the division – especially as we fast approach 500 brokers.”

Adding in its employed division, Just Mortgages has more than 650 brokers nationwide. Brokers can advise on any client requirements, whether it’s first-time buyers, shared ownership, buy-to-let, later life borrowing, commercial advice. Through its sister firm Just Wealth, brokers can also refer clients for wider financial advice including investments, savings and pensions.
