Commending the winners, Personal Finance Society chief executive, Keith Richards, said: “All the finalists in each category were capable of being worthy winners, as the level of competition continues to rise each year.

“It has been a privilege to be part of the judging panel, which has again reinforced to me the depth of quality and expertise amongst our membership. They are ambassadors, committed not only to their clients, but also to the profession as a whole.”

The London Regional Symposium was the first of four taking place around the country in the next few weeks. It will be followed by Newport (18 November), Edinburgh (26 November) and Birmingham (30 November). In total, more than 2,000 advisers will attend – up 33 per cent on last year and three times the attendance in 2013.

It featured key messages and an interactive pension session with minister of state for pensions, Baroness Ros Altmann and speakers including futurologist Dr James Bellini, Cap Gemini's Rod Bryson, Steve Groves CEO of Partnership Assurance, Informed Choice executive director Nick Bamford and internationally-acclaimed motivational speaker Geoff Burch, as well as some of the leading practitioners in the profession.
