Later Life Academy launches Estate Planning training courses

04 March 2016

The Later Life Academy (LLA), the commercial and training organisation for later life advisers, has today (4th March 2016) announced the launch of a new estate planning training course taking place at two venues during March.

In association with Legacy Probate Services, one of the UK’s leading estate planning practitioners, the Academy is hosting the two events for advisers in London on the 9th March and Leeds on the 16th March.

The event has been designed to give adviser attendees a full and rounded view of the will and estate planning sector and will deliver a variety of information on the following:

  • What precisely is a Last Will and Testament?
  • The Rules of Intestacy.
  • How making your own Will compares to the Rules of Intestacy.
  • The Benefits of a Will Trust.
  • Property and Affairs Lasting Power of Attorney.
  • Health and Welfare Lasting Power of Attorney.
  • How to refer business.

On top of the course itself, attendees will gain access to a market-leading commercial offer which will allow them to deliver a Will and Lasting Power of Attorney to their clients for just £99 from Legacy Probate Services for a limited period of time. This would normally cost over £420. Details, including materials and support to gain interest from clients, will be provided on the day.

The price for this course is just £20 for LLA members and £40 for non-members. Lunch and refreshments will be provided

The London event will take place at Ashford Solicitors, 1 New Fetter Lane, London, EC4A 1AN – registration opens at 9.30am and the event will finish at 4.30pm.

The Leeds event will take place at Pure Retirement, 4305 Park Approach Thorpe Park, Leeds LS15 8GB – registration opens at 9am and the event will finish at 4pm.

The module will provide attendees with 10 LLA points which contribute towards graduating the Later Life Academy if you are, or become, a member. The Academy points are only gained upon completion of an exit exam. This course will also count towards structured CPD whether you are a member of the Academy or not - attendees will be issued with a certificate to confirm this.

Stuart Wilson, Managing Partner at the Later Life Academy, said:

“Given what is happening in the world of pensions and the constant issue of inheritance tax and other later life concerns, advisers certainly need to ensure they have all the up to date information there is on the will and estate planning options available to clients. There is, quite frankly, no need to neglect the needs of clients in this area however in order to advise and/or refer in this space, they will need to be fully aware of what is available, how the sector works, and how they can proceed. This is why we are offering these two one-day courses in London and Leeds to fill any information gaps whilst at the same time outlining how advisers can support their clients in this area. Through our relationship with Legacy Probate Services not only can we offer a highly informative course but advisers, for a limited time, will be able to offer their clients a Will and Lasting Power of Attorney for just £99. This is a strong example of the Academy’s commitment to learning and training, whilst at the same time offering commercial advantages. We would urge both LLA members and those who may simply want to boost their knowledge in this area to book their place immediately.”
