As Mothers Day approaches, the project has released Nikki Thornley’s video case study in which she shares her story and highlights just how your life, that of your family, your housing and support needs, financial health, resilience and future can be changed in a moment – A timely message given that our  recently released Scottish Widows Savings Report highlighted that one third of those aged 45-54 and 28% of those aged 35-44 are not currently saving and more worrying still, 20% of adults have no saving at all.  The report also called out that where people have savings, if they had to rely on them, 8% of adults could do so for less than 1 month, 13% for one month, 23% for a couple of months and just 10% for one year.

You may have also seen that the FCA last week commented that the financial services industry has much to do in order to better understand and support vulnerable customers -  Each of the Families being featured in the Seven Families initiative is a vulnerable customer and this material may have a place in aiding us better educate/ inform colleagues and improve understanding of vulnerable customer issues and needs.

The aim of the campaign….. Is with the support of health and disability charities, to prompt consumers to think about their financial vulnerability and what they might do about it....... The families being featured are based in different parts of the country, come from various backgrounds and are experiencing the impacts of a range of different health conditions and injuries.
