Deepbridge announce three new recruits

22 January 2018

Deepbridge, the tax-efficient investment manager, has today (22nd January 2018) announced three new recruits joining the business in both Investment and Business Development Manager (BDM) roles.

Ben Carter has joined the Deepbridge team in the position of Investment Manager, working within the Deepbridge Life Sciences team. Ben brings considerable operational experience, which Deepbridge believes will be valuable to its investee companies as they approach commercial scale-up. Prior to joining Deepbridge, Ben was the Managing Director of Touchpoint Service, and Commercial Director of Telmenow, the healthcare equipment-focused e-commerce platform.

Philip Thompson joins Deepbridge in the role of Business Development Manager to support Deepbridge’s rapidly growing adviser community across Central England, working with both existing and new financial advisers to provide assistance with their tax-efficient investments. With over 30 years’ experience in business-to-business sales, management and marketing of financial services, Philip most recently worked as a business consultant developing and implementing client service platforms for advisory businesses and working closely with a number of large advisory businesses to grow key areas of their operation.

Also, joining as a BDM is Anjali Roberts, a highly-regarded investment management professional with considerable experience of working closely with financial advisers. Anjali will be working with advisers across the Merseyside area. Before taking on this role, Anjali had been an investment manager for UBS, Close Asset Management and Charles Stanley.

Deepbridge invests specifically in technology and life sciences-focused firms, via its range of Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS) and Seed EIS (SEIS) propositions. It currently operates four EIS/SEIS: Deepbridge Technology Growth EIS; Deepbridge Life Sciences EIS; Deepbridge Life Sciences SEIS; and the recently-launched, Deepbridge Innovation SEIS, which provides seed-stage funding to a portfolio of innovative, technology-focused companies.

Ian Warwick, Managing Partner at Deepbridge, commented:

“As interest in EIS/SEIS grows amongst the financial adviser community, and therefore the number of investee companies we manage grows, it is important that we continue to expand our investment management team with individuals who are experienced at working with early-stage growth companies. Ben brings fantastic experience and will be a real asset to the team.

“Following the Autumn Budget we have entered a new era for EIS/SEIS investment and Deepbridge is at the forefront of providing investments that adhere to the full ‘spirit of EIS’, with our specific focus on both technology and life sciences. However, advisers need to understand this new world and therefore providing proactive support via a team of knowledgeable and regionally based BDMs has never been more important. Anjali and Philip both marry considerable financial services experience with the personalities to be a real asset to our adviser community.

“This is not the end of our recruitment in 2018 as we will see further new faces joining us throughout the year as we continue to grow as a business.”
