New NED at HL Partnership as network focuses on business growth

13 August 2018

HL Partnership, the South Coast based Mortgage and Protection Network, has appointed Mike Hughes as Non-Executive Director.

HL Partnership, which is the largest privately owned network in the UK, remains committed to being an independent business and is in the process of finalising plans to expand its activities to attract new members.

Mike Hughes will be advising the HLP’s Executive team by making use of his extensive knowledge of the financial services market. Having started his career with Bristol & West and then Legal & General Bank, Mike also has vast experience of Networks from his time as CEO of Burns Anderson Plc. His deep understanding of the mortgage market, which will be of particular relevance to HL Partnership, led him to become Commercial Director of Castle Trust before he became Sales & Marketing Director of Novia Financial. Non-executive roles at Positive Solutions and Origen followed and he is currently a NED at Dudley Building Society.

Speaking about his appointment, Mike Hughes said, “I am particularly excited about joining HL Partnership in a NED role. This is a company which has been one of the better kept secrets among Networks. It has quietly gone about building up a nurturing environment for its members, backed by some of the best IT, training and compliance support systems I have seen. Having met with Chris Tanner and his team and looked at their plans, it was clear that HL Partnership had a lot more to offer mortgage and protection Advisers searching for a stable and supportive base on which to build their businesses. My role will be to advise and help the board to build on its current success by amplifying its appeal to the Adviser market.”

Chris Tanner, Chief Executive Officer at HL Partnership, commented, “We are delighted to have Mike working with us. His experience of the sector and the lending market will be of immeasurable help as we set our plans in motion to grow our market share and attract new members to the HL Partnership family.”
