Society’s ’chuting stars set for high jump...

THREE brave Leek United colleagues are set to take the Society’s charity fundraising sky-high – and then straight back down to earth! – this month (May)…
Abi Bowden, Tim Toft and Laura Whitworth will become ‘chuting stars’ for the day when they leap 10,000 feet from a plane in aid of The Donna Louise Hospice for Children & Young People*.
The trio have signed up to take part in the Stoke-on-Trent-based charity’s annual Skydive Challenge at Tilstock Airfield in Whitchurch, Shropshire on Saturday, 11 May.
They’ll each complete a tandem parachute jump, harnessed to a qualified instructor – with all proceeds from the daredevil sponsored event going towards supporting children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across South Cheshire and Staffordshire.
“For me, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do – one to tick off on my ‘bucket list’,” said Abi, a Customer Assistant at Leek United’s Ashbourne Branch.
Tim, a Senior Customer Assistant at Cheadle Branch, reaches his 56th birthday the same week of the jump. “It will certainly be a memorable way to celebrate – and it’s all for a great cause,” he said.
And Laura, a Senior Customer Assistant at Uttoxeter Branch, added: “I’m a bit of an adrenalin junkie – but they might have to kick me out of the plane once we’re up there!”
Each of the intrepid colleagues has to pay a registration fee of £50 and raise a minimum of £345 to take part in the Skydive Challenge.

The money that they have raised will make such a difference in ensuring we can continue to support the families who rely on our services.”
