Home-grown hospitality from Society’s Ashbourne staff...

19 June 2019

VISITORS to Ashbourne will get a taste of Leek United’s own home-grown hospitality next weekend as part of the town’s annual festival celebrations.

The Society is the main sponsor of FoodFest, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday 22/23 June during the 17-day Ashbourne Festival.

And on Saturday, staff from Leek United’s Ashbourne Branch in Victoria Square will join other street stalls nearby to give festival-goers a real flavour of all that the area has to offer.

“Ashbourne Festival is a huge community event in the town’s annual calendar, and brings thousands of people to the area each year,” said Branch Manager Abi Bowden.

“We’re delighted to be sponsoring FoodFest, and will be offering refreshments to visitors throughout Saturday, all served with our own brand of traditional Leek United hospitality.”

The festival aims to bring some of the best classical and contemporary arts to the town, hosting some of the top street theatre, musicians, comedians, artists and writers working in the region, nationally and internationally.

Tim Challans, one of the Festival Directors, said: “Ashbourne Festival is run entirely by volunteers on a very tight budget, and we are very grateful to all the local companies – such as Leek United – that sponsor the festival. Without their support, the festival simply could not happen.”
