Small steps towards first rung of property ladder...

03 July 2019

Leek United is launching a campaign to help prospective homebuyers in Shropshire move towards the first rung of the property ladder…

Throughout the third week of July, the Society’s Market Drayton Branch is offering free ‘drop-in’ mini mortgage interviews for people contemplating buying their first home.

During the 30-minute sessions, Qualified Mortgage Adviser Chloe Bason will give customers an initial assessment of their borrowing eligibility – and how much they could potentially spend on a property.

And for those meeting Leek United’s basic lending criteria, there will then be an opportunity to arrange a further appointment to discuss their home ownership dreams in more detail.

“The idea is to give anyone contemplating a home of their own a realistic idea of the options open to them, in terms of what they could borrow and the sort of mortgage products we can offer to best suit their needs,” said Chloe.

“There are some exciting new developments being built in Market Drayton and the surrounding areas at the moment, and now could be the perfect time for people to find out their mortgage eligibility and potentially look at putting down their own roots in the area…”

Leek United’s Market Drayton Mortgage Week campaign (15-19 July) coincides with the launch of an exciting portfolio of new mortgages by the Society, including a Five-Year Fixed Rate Mortgage, with just 5% deposit, and £250 cashback!

And the Society’s new mortgages offer homebuyers in Shropshire a real ‘feelgood factor’*; customers who already have a savings account with the Society can feel extra good about taking out a new mortgage by receiving £200 – as well as securing a £50 donation for Severn Hospice in Shropshire – on completion on top of any of our mortgage deals.

Alternatively, for non-savings customers who ‘Recommend a Friend** for a Leek United mortgage, there’s a £100 bonus for them – plus an additional £100 for their friend, when they complete on the deal.

The Society’s Market Drayton Mortgage Week runs from 15-20 July. To book an appointment, simply call in at the Society’s town branch in High Street, or call 0808 169 8426.

The ‘Feelgood Mortgage’* gives members the chance of not only applying for a suitable mortgage with the Society, but also helping a local charity in Cheshire, Derbyshire, Shropshire or Staffordshire.

After following the Society’s mortgage process applicants will be able to choose one of four charities to receive a £50 donation from Leek United – in addition to getting £200 cash back themselves – on completion of their ‘Feelgood Mortgage’.

The charitable organisations to benefit under the ‘Feelgood’ scheme include: East Cheshire Hospice (Cheshire); Treetops Hospice (Derbyshire); Severn Hospice (Shropshire); and The Donna Louise Hospice for Children and Young People (Staffordshire). Terms and conditions apply.
