We are Leek. They are Stoke. We are United…

15 October 2019

FOOTBALL fans have the chance to make a great save – AND boost support for their favourite team – thanks to Leek United…

The Society – which has just signed a further three-year partnership deal with Stoke City Football Club - has re-launched its hugely popular ‘Save and Support’ Affinity Account*.

Whatever their financial goals, football-mad savers young and old can be sure that their money will be in safe hands, as well as helping to support their club.

And to mark the account’s re-launch, Leek United Chief Executive Andrew Healy presented a cheque for £19,504 – based on the balances held in existing ‘Save and Support’ accounts during the last 12 months – to Stoke City’s Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Lakin at the Potters’ bet365 Stadium.

Andrew said: “We are delighted to re-sign and be teamed up with Stoke City as their official savings and financial services partner.

“There are a great many Stoke City fans amongst the Society’s membership, and our 'Save and Support' Affinity Account has already proved hugely popular with them since its initial launch, with more than 1,400 junior and adult accounts opened.

“The account is an ideal way of enabling supporters to save money AND back their club - it also brings together the benefits of mutuality to football fans young and old.”

Mr Lakin added: “Over the last five years the Stoke City FC ‘Save & Support’ Savings Account with Leek United has gone from strength to strength, and we are delighted with the Society’s continued support.

“We are two prominent businesses, both with a strong geographical presence in the region, and this partnership allows us to provide a great savings opportunity for all members of the public to benefit.”

The ‘Save and Support’ account can be opened with as little as £1, and provides savers with the benefit of instant access to their money.

Interest is paid annually on 1st January, with the adult account attracting a tiered rate of interest dependent on the balance.

All new account holders receive a passbook in a special holder, emblazoned with the Stoke City badge – and for every penny saved with Leek United, the club benefits in the form of interest paid annually.

And throughout the current football season, there are matchday mascot packages, free prize draws and signed T-shirt giveaways for account holders**.
