Paradigm further supports Scottish intermediaries by adding Scottish Building Society to panel

17 August 2022

Paradigm Mortgage Services, the mortgage services proposition, has today (17th August 2022) announced the appointment of Scottish Building Society to its lender panel.

From today, Paradigm member firms will have access to the Society’s range of residential, entrepreneur, guarantor, and professional mortgages for both purchasers and remortgagors. It also offers Retirement Interest-Only (RIO) mortgages as well as products for self-build and custom-build, plus holiday let products.

Scottish Building Society offers a range of flexible underwriting with underwriters considering individual circumstances and complex cases that could be difficult to place. This includes:

  • Professional products with flexible criteria and day one self-employed for locum doctors, solicitor partners, and those with fluctuating cash flow.
  • Guarantor lending (interest-only an option).
  • Impaired credit history considered.
  • Entrepreneur range allowing for one-year self-employed and one-year accounts. The Society can also use net profit as usable income.
  • Remortgage and home improvements using project end value to calculate LTV.
  • Later life options including lending via SIPP, RIO with standard lending to age 85 and no maximum term for RIO.

Applications can be submitted by Scottish Building Society’s online application portal, SBS Online, with all cases allocated to an individual underwriter. There is also access to its Affordability Calculator plus support via the Society’s four BDMs.

Paradigm recently appointed Sarah Blackwood as its new Senior Relationship Manager covering Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North East of England. Sarah has almost 20 years’ experience working in financial services, most recently at Santander where she was a Business Development Manager.

Richard Howes, Director of Mortgages at Paradigm Mortgage Services, commented:

“The Scottish mortgage and protection market is an increasingly important one for Paradigm and we are therefore pleased to be able to announce the addition of Scottish Building Society to our panel, in response to member feedback. It is active in a wide range of product and sector areas and its flexible approach to underwriting means it can look at individual circumstances rather than operating a tick-box approach. We believe there is much to interest advisers and their clients in the product range and proposition, and Paradigm will continue to work closely with our member firms in Scotland to add value to their businesses across a wide range of areas as well as identify new opportunities.

“With Sarah Blackwood having recently strengthened our presence in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North East, we are excited about working with both existing and new contacts within these regions to help them secure the most from their membership.”

Stephen Brown, Head of Intermediaries at Scottish Building Society, said:

“The Scottish Building Society is delighted to partner with Paradigm Mortgage Services. We are known for our personal approach to service and flexible underwriting and look forward to helping members of Paradigm over the coming weeks and months. We truly value the strong connections we have with our intermediary partners. This is reflected in our most recent Net Promoter Score for H1 2022 which is 76.4 with an overall 92.1% satisfaction score from brokers, placing us among the top lenders in the UK for broker service. Whether you are based in Scotland or the North of England why not give us a call to experience our award-winning broker service.”
