Affordable housing on the agenda at Just Mortgages New Build event

23 March 2023

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, the new build division at Just Mortgages is set to return with its Affordable Housing & New Build Event in April.

This time however, the national brokerage promises the event will be even bigger and better than before. Not only will a whole host of lenders, housing associations, trade bodies and surveyors be in attendance, but the day will include speakers and panel discussions covering shared ownership, the First Homes scheme and other affordable housing initiatives.

The event takes place on Wednesday, 19th April at St Mary’s Church in Marylebone with registration now open for housing associations, property developers, local authorities and those interested in affordable housing.

The packed line-up of speakers includes Rachel Hunnisett of the Green Finance Institute, Andy Nelson from Homes England and David O’Leary, policy director at the Home Builders Federation. Alex Rose of Zoopla will reveal the latest market intelligence and Frances Haque, chief economist at Santander will share her thoughts and analysis.

More names are expected to be announced as the agenda for the event is confirmed.

John Doughty, financial services director at Just Mortgages New Build Division said: “With the end of Help to Buy, the mini-budget, the rise and fall of rates and the growth of shared ownership, this new build event once again comes at a time when affordable housing is high on the agenda. It’s a fantastic to opportunity to bring together all the key stakeholders to not only evaluate progress but assess the future prospects of the sector.

“We’ve worked hard to assemble both big name and specialist lenders, housing associations, trade bodies and advisers from our new build division to ensure this event offers real value to the delegates in attendance.”

Through its nationwide network of employed and self-employed brokers, Just Mortgages can advise clients at every stage of life, whether it’s first-time buyers, new build and shared ownership or later life borrowing and even wealth management through sister firm Just Wealth.

As borrowers sought other low deposit schemes following the end of Help to Buy, Just Mortgages saw more connections regarding shared ownership in the second half of 2022 than in the previous five years. The opportunities of the scheme will be a key topic of discussion at the April event.
