United Trust Bank Comments on the Creation of the New National Housing Bank
19 June 2025
The Government has announced the creation of The National Housing Bank, a publicly owned subsidiary of Homes England, which will form part of the Government’s efforts to build 1.5 million homes over the next five years.
Commenting on the announcement, Adam Bovingdon, Head of Property Development at United Trust Bank (UTB), said:
"This is a positive move from the Government and UTB will be keen to participate in this new initiative. We have considerable experience of working with public bodies such as Homes England and the British Business Bank (BBB) to help deliver funding to the sector which could benefit most - SME housebuilders.
“We have collaborated with Homes England on many development schemes and previously created the Housing Accelerator Fund together. Earlier this year UTB surpassed £1billion of BBB ENABLE guaranteed lending across nearly 450 loan facilities provided to SME housebuilders supporting the creation of around 4700 new homes. ENABLE is an excellent example of successful state and private sector cooperation and I hope that the National Housing Bank will be equally successful in supporting the significant contribution SME housebuilders can make to delivering the Government's new housing targets."
