Alan Finney joins Just Mortgages New Build & Shared Ownership as divisional sales director

22 October 2025

The specialist new build and shared ownership division of Just Mortgages, one of the UK’s largest brokerages, has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of Alan Finney as divisional sales director.

Alan brings more than 30 years of financial services experience to Just Mortgages and is best known for his long tenure with Coventry Building Society. He joined the mutual in 2003 as an adviser, before climbing the ranks and later joining the mortgage leadership team in 2009. Over 15 years, starting as head of intermediaries, Alan played a pivotal role during a significant period of growth and transformation for the building society.

In 2012, Alan became head of direct mortgages, managing a team of more than 250 advisers and coordinators across the contact centre and branch network. In this role, Alan was tasked with leading the transition from a non-advised to full advice operating model. Following this success, Alan took up a brand-new role as head of mortgage transformation, leading on a four-year programme to implement new servicing and origination platforms, as well as driving the mutual’s lending policy and wider mortgage proposition.

In his new role with Just Mortgages, Alan will be tasked with managing and growing the specialist new build and shared ownership arm of the national brokerage. Alongside developing and expanding the team of more than 30 specialist new build advisers, he will be supporting the wider team in nurturing longstanding partnerships with lenders, developers and housing associations.

Alan Finney said:

“After a successful two decades with Coventry Building Society, I’m thrilled to be taking on a new challenge with Just Mortgages. In my initial conversations with the team, it quickly became clear that this was an exciting opportunity and a good next move in my career to explore a new area of the market and work with a really talented team. You cannot put a price on the expertise this specialist team of advisers can offer – it’s a real USP of Just Mortgages and something I’m keen to help develop as we increase our presence further.

“My heart lies in customer operations and sales and I’m really pleased to be returning back to that and ultimately, helping people get on the housing ladder. My first impressions of Just Mortgages have been really favourable – the team is really professional, market leading and purpose driven with clear ambitions to grow. They have been very welcoming and I look forward to getting stuck in.”

John Doughty, chapter managing director, adds:

“With his wealth of knowledge and expertise, there’s no doubt that Alan is a tremendous addition to the team and someone who will play a critical role as we continue to grow. He will be a fantastic asset to our growing team of specialist advisers and someone who is more than capable of pushing forward our deep-rooted relationships with key partners across the new build and shared ownership arena.

“As one of the country’s largest specialist new build teams, we already have a significant footprint across the UK. Combined with this is our longstanding partnerships with the likes of lenders, introducers, developers and housing associations. Expanding our team and adding expertise is an important step in our ambition to support first-time buyers, facilitate new build transactions and deliver quality advice as a real leader in this exciting segment of the market.”

Just Mortgages’ team of more than 30 specialist new build advisers is just one part of the national brokerage, with more than 650 advisers across the country. This is split across the self-employed division and its employed division, with advisers based in estate agency branches throughout the UK.
