Santander UK appoints Ben Merritt as Head of Mortgage Trading

Santander UK today announced the appointment of Ben Merritt as Head of Mortgage Trading. Ben will report into David Morris, Santander UK’s Head of Homes.

As Head of Mortgage Trading, Ben will be responsible for leading the execution of Santander’s mortgage strategy, with a clear focus on delivering sustainable lending growth. His role oversees the trading performance across the mortgage portfolio, with key priorities including developing the lender’s retention strategy, strengthening customer relationships, and supporting long term portfolio value.

Ben has over 20 years of experience in financial services, with the last 15 spent working within the mortgage industry. Prior to joining Santander UK, he was Director of Mortgages at Yorkshire Building Society and Executive Director at Accord.

Ben Merritt – career history

Ben has worked in financial services since 2005. He started his career in insurance, before moving on to roles at Insurety and Cattles PLC. Ben joined Yorkshire Building Society in 2010 where he started as a Branch Manager before holding several roles within the mortgage space, including managing the Group Mortgage Acquisition team, before becoming Director of Mortgages.
