Tembo Increases Underlying HomeSaver™ Rate to market-leading 4.75% AER to Support Homebuyers

19 March 2026

Savers earn a market-leading 5.75% AER when they use Tembo’s award-winning mortgage service - boosted by a new 4.75% underlying variable rate.

  • Tembo has increased the underlying interest rate on its HomeSaver account to a market-leading 4.75% AER (variable), while maintaining its headline rate of 5.75% AER.

  • HomeSaver account holders will now earn 4.75% AER (variable) on savings up to £20,000. This is made up of a 3.00% base rate (variable) and a 1.75% introductory rate (fixed for 12 months). Customers can unlock an additional 1.00% AER (fixed for 12 months) ‘Tembonus’, paid upon mortgage completion through Tembo.

  • Savers will be able to benefit during the mortgage advice process from Tembo’s new and exclusive Best Mortgage Deal Guarantee. If a better like-for-like deal is found by another whole of market broker, it will pay the difference over the product term.

  • The bonus is paid directly into the customer’s HomeSaver account in the month after a mortgage has been completed.

  • Savers receive all mortgage advice from Tembo’s award-winning team, totally fee-free.

London, 19 March 2026 - Award-winning digital savings and mortgage platform Tembo today announced an enhanced version of its HomeSaver™ account, increasing the underlying variable interest rate to 4.75% AER. This puts the underlying savings rate a full percentage point above the current Bank of England base rate of 3.75%.

When combined with the 1.00% AER (fixed 12-month) ‘Tembonus’, customers can earn a market-leading 5.75% AER when they save and take out their mortgage through Tembo.

Tembo built HomeSaver to give a much-needed boost to would-be buyers and homeowners facing a difficult market, helping them save faster and secure competitive mortgage deals all from within one app.

A Savings Boost When Buyers Need It Most

With core savings rates softening and deposits becoming harder to build, Tembo’s enhanced HomeSaver account provides a meaningful boost to first-time buyers, movers, and remortgagers.

Tembo designed HomeSaver in direct response to the affordability pressures its customers face: rising house prices, tightening budgets, and the increasing challenge of saving enough for a deposit.

Tembo’s Mission

Since launching in 2020, Tembo has focused on helping people buy their first home sooner. With average UK house prices now at £300,077, saving enough to get onto the ladder remains a major barrier.

HomeSaver brings savings and mortgage advice together in one platform, helping customers save efficiently and then secure a mortgage at the right time.

Richard Dana, Founder and CEO at Tembo, said:

“Tembo’s mission is to help people buy their home sooner. By increasing our underlying rate to a market-leading 4.75% while maintaining a headline rate of 5.75%, we’re giving savers even more value as they build towards a deposit. At a time when affordability remains stretched, combining strong savings returns with our fee-free, award-winning mortgage service can make a real difference in helping people get onto the property ladder sooner.”
