Charity sector research secures top industry awards for business bank

23 March 2026

Insight-led research into the financial pressures facing UK charities has helped a specialist business bank secure two major industry awards.

Redwood Bank was named Best Charity Savings Provider at the MoneyComms Top Performers Awards 2026, alongside Best Notice Business Savings Provider, following the publication of its report, How Smarter Saving Can Strengthen the UK Charity Sector.

Jessica Darrah, senior savings product manager, said: “These awards reflect our commitment to delivering savings solutions that genuinely support charities and businesses in achieving their financial goals.

“Being named Best Charity Savings Provider underlines our ongoing focus in a sector that is often underserved by larger institutions. Charities face unique pressures and we believe their reserves should be working as effectively as possible to support their long-term impact.”

The research offered a detailed picture of how charities are managing their finances at a time of rising costs and uncertain income, revealing both the scale of reserves held and the challenges organisations face in maintaining long-term stability.

It found that 69 per cent of charities hold more than £50,000 in savings, with almost half holding over £100,000. However, despite these balances, 80 per cent reported rising day-to-day costs, 73 per cent said they struggle to secure stable funding and almost half lack confidence in their long-term financial position.

The findings also highlighted a clear opportunity for charities to take a more strategic approach to managing their reserves. While most organisations review their savings regularly, many continue to hold funds in low-return current accounts or do not explore alternative providers that could improve returns.

“Our research highlights a clear opportunity for charities and businesses to take a more strategic approach to savings.

“This is not just about offering competitive rates. It is about providing clarity and straightforward options so charities can make informed decisions that support their long-term impact. Whether it’s a growing business or a charity focused on delivering frontline services, we aim to provide straightforward, transparent products that support their ambitions.”
