LSL launches its first protection-only conference
13 April 2026
LSL Financial Services has launched its first-ever conference focused solely on protection.
The LSL Protection Forum powered by Novium – thought to be the only event of its kind run by a distributor – aims to equip advisers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to have better protection conversations with their clients. It also aims to highlight how they can use all parts of the protection journey to improve customer outcomes.
Staged in collaboration with Novium, LSL’s wholly owned protection sourcing system, which is free to all users, the LSL Protection Forum will take place on 21 May at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. It is open to both Primis appointed representatives and directly authorised members of TMA Club.
Advisers can look forward to a packed agenda (see below for full details), including sessions on the regulatory landscape, the impact of a claim; the future of underwriting; disclosure and business quality; behavioural economics; a panel on sales skills, objections and best practice; as well as a panel on the use of AI vs EI (Emotional Intelligence) in protection advice.
The event will feature contributions from Novium as well as a wide range of major providers and organisations, including Legal & General, Aviva, Royal London, Vitality, LV=, The Exeter, Zurich, MetLife and the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries. There are also many more exhibiting on the day.
The Forum will conclude with a networking lunch, allowing attendees to continue discussions and build valuable industry connections.
Craig Hall, Director, Strategic Partnerships at LSL Financial Services said:
“We are delighted to be launching our first protection-only conference, which we believe is the only event of its kind delivered by a distributor. While there are well-established protection events in the market, these are typically aimed at and attended by protection specialists.
“Having seen the value these events deliver, we wanted to bring something specific to our own community, but with an agenda that’s equally relevant for both mortgage brokers and specialist protection advisers.
“The LSL Protection Forum aims to offer advisers practical, actionable insight they can implement immediately. By the end of the day, attendees will feel more confident in writing protection business and better equipped to deliver high-quality client outcomes.
“Protection is a key focus for us, and this event reflects our broader commitment to raising standards in protection advice and playing our part with addressing the protection gap.
“We’re also incredibly grateful to our provider partners for their support in helping to create what will be an invaluable day for advisers and we hope this will become a regular fixture in our events calendar, giving advisers an ongoing opportunity to learn, collaborate and share best practice.”
Amy Loxton, Product Manager for Novium, said:
“Technology is playing an increasingly important role in protection advice, not just in terms of efficiency, but in helping advisers deliver more consistent and well-evidenced outcomes for clients.
“That’s why it’s a key theme running through the Forum. As the market evolves, advisers need to understand how digital tools, data and underwriting developments can support better conversations and decision-making – without losing the human element that sits at the heart of protection advice.
“Bringing these discussions into the agenda ensures advisers leave with a clearer view of how technology is shaping the protection journey and how they can adapt their approach in response.”
