14.07.2026: Bank of Ireland for Intermediaries is announcing enhancements to its Joint Borrower Sole Proprietor (JBSP) offering to help more customers achieve their homebuying ambitions.
The changes to the criteria include making JBSP available to those wanting to remortgage, helping homeowners to fund additional renovations, or refinance following changes in family circumstances such as separation or divorce.
In order to access the JBSP products, borrowers will need to meet a number of strict conditions, with minimum income requirements for both the main applicant and sponsor.
The enhancements to the offering include:
- Maximum loan size of £1,500,000.
- Main applicant minimum age of 18, with options to consider student applications.
- Extending the age limit for sponsors up to 80 when selecting a repayment product.
- Provision of interest only and part interest and repayment products.
Rhys Powell, Interim Head of Distribution, Bank of Ireland for Intermediaries, said:
“We know that the route to homeownership can look different for everyone, which is why it's important that we offer mortgage solutions that reflect the realities of modern family life.
“The demand for this type of support is clear, with Joint Borrower Sole Proprietor enquiries identified as the most searched criteria topic in Twenty7tec’s latest Mortgage Market Snapshot1. That reinforces what we're hearing from customers and intermediary partners alike, that flexible solutions are increasingly important in helping people achieve their homeownership ambitions.
“Whether that's helping a first-time buyer get onto the property ladder, supporting affordability, or making it easier for family members to downsize while continuing to support loved ones, these changes provide greater flexibility for a wider range of circumstances.
“We're consistently looking at ways to make things better for customers and our intermediary partners. These enhancements reflect our ongoing investment in improving our products and services to help more people achieve their homeownership ambitions.”
