Darlington Building Society’s Confidence in Every Case® recognised by brokers at Financial Reporter Awards
24 July 2026
Darlington Building Society says giving brokers confidence has become one of the most important ways lenders can stand apart, following recognition from advisers at this year’s Financial Reporter Brokers’ Choice Awards.
The Society, which recently introduced and trademarked its Confidence in Every Case® proposition, has been named Later Life Lender of the Year at the Financial Reporter Brokers’ Choice Awards 2026. The annual awards are decided by votes from Financial Reporter’s readership of more than 21,000 mortgage advisers, recognising the lenders that brokers believe consistently deliver for their clients.
Confidence in Every Case® sits at the heart of Darlington Intermediaries’ proposition and reflects the Society’s commitment to giving brokers the certainty that every application will be handled with consistency, clarity and care, whether the outcome is yes or no. Rather than focusing on what the Society says about itself, the proposition centres on the confidence brokers should feel when choosing Darlington Building Society.
The approach builds on the Society’s Broker Commitment and has been supported by continued investment in its intermediary proposition, including enhancements to underwriting, improvements to packaging requirements, the launch of its digital mortgage origination platform and an ongoing focus on open, straightforward communication throughout the mortgage journey.
The Financial Reporter award follows another recent broker-voted accolade for the Society, having also been named Best Intermediary Lender at this year’s What Mortgage Awards.
Chris Blewitt, Head of Mortgage Distribution at Darlington Building Society, said:
“Mortgage brokers don’t build their reputations on finding the lowest rate every time. They build them by recommending lenders they know they can trust. Clients remember whether their case was handled well, whether expectations were managed and whether decisions were clear. That’s why confidence has become such an important part of the broker-lender relationship.”
“Confidence isn’t built by always saying yes. It’s built by giving brokers honest conversations, consistent decisions and the reassurance that every case will be considered fairly by people who understand the circumstances in front of them. If brokers feel they can place even their more complex cases with us knowing they’ll receive that experience, then we’re doing exactly what Confidence in Every Case® was created to achieve.”
“To receive that recognition through a broker vote makes this award particularly meaningful. It tells us we’re delivering the kind of experience brokers value most, and that’s something we’ll continue investing in across every part of our intermediary proposition.”
