Hope Capital Property Finance Records Lowest Loan Defaults in its History
24 August 2026
Leading specialist lender Hope Capital Property Finance has recorded the lowest number of loan defaults in its history, while resolving defaulted loans 30% faster and managing 50% more redemptions than this time last year.
The results follow a significant investment in proactive borrower support, alongside the continued growth of Hope Capital’s lending capacity through several institutional funding lines. Together, these developments demonstrate the lender’s ability to scale its business while maintaining strong credit performance and a high level of service for borrowers and brokers.
At the centre of this approach is Hope Capital’s dedicated Loan Support Team, introduced last year to give every borrower and broker a dedicated point of contact from drawdown through to redemption. The team has grown by 60% in line with the growth of the business and its increased lending capacity, supported by Hope Capital’s institutional funding partners.
The team takes a proactive approach to managing each facility, working closely with borrowers and brokers on extensions and facility increases, while releasing refurbishment funds within 24 hours to ensure borrowers can access capital when they need it. Each loan is closely monitored through to redemption, enabling potential challenges to be identified and addressed early.
Where difficulties do arise, Hope Capital’s dedicated Resolutions Team provides hands-on support to borrowers experiencing challenges or delays with their exit strategy. By working collaboratively with borrowers and brokers, the team helps navigate issues, explore practical solutions and achieve the best possible outcome for all parties.
Importantly, these improvements have been achieved against a backdrop of significantly increased lending activity, supported by several institutional funding lines. This demonstrates Hope Capital’s ability to scale its operations alongside its funding capacity, increasing efficiency while maintaining strong loan performance and borrower support.
The results underline Hope Capital’s commitment to combining institutional funding strength with a relationship-led approach to specialist lending, giving borrowers and brokers access to capital alongside responsive, hands-on support throughout the life of every loan.
Jemma Wood, Director of Portfolio, Asset and Risk at Hope Capital Property Finance, said:
“For us, completion is not the end of the relationship with Hope Capital Property Finance. From the outset, every borrower and broker is allocated a dedicated point of contact who understands the loan, the project and the intended exit strategy. They have someone they know they can simply pick up the phone to throughout the life of the facility.
That relationship is really important to us because it means we can stay close to our borrowers, understand how their plans are progressing and look at how we can support them as their requirements evolve. We are seeing an increasing number of borrowers and brokers return to us for repeat deals, which is a strong endorsement of the service and relationships we have built.
For us, it is about building long-term relationships, supporting borrowers throughout their property journey and being a lender they can come back to time and again.”
Kate Cowan, Chief Financial and Operating Officer at Hope Capital Property Finance, added:
“As we continue to grow, maintaining high service standards remains a key priority for us. We know that speed, communication and reliability are important to both brokers and borrowers, which is why we continually look at ways to make the experience of working with Hope Capital as straightforward and efficient as possible.
That commitment is reflected in the practical support we provide every day, whether that’s releasing refurbishment drawdown funds within 24 hours to help keep projects moving or ensuring procuration fees are paid on the same day as completion, or the next working day for completions after 3.30pm.
While these may seem like small details, they can make a significant difference to brokers and borrowers. They demonstrate our focus on delivering a service that is responsive, dependable and built around helping our customers achieve their objectives.”
