Berkeley Alexander announces new senior management team

15 November 2010

15th November 2010: Leading wholesale general insurance intermediary Berkeley Alexander announces today the appointment of a new managing director and senior management team. Geoff Hall has been appointed Managing Director after twenty five years with the firm. Mark Hutchings will become Sales and Marketing Director. Mark has been with Berkeley Alexander for three years, prior to which he spent 20 years in the general insurance industry working for firms such as Esure and Ace European Group. Meanwhile, Mike Gamble has been promoted to the role of Network and Affinities Director where he will be well served by his extensive mortgage industry knowledge, having previously worked for Bristol & West and Burns Anderson amongst others. The team has been further strengthened by the appointment of Alan Collinson as Business Development Manager. Alan too brings strong mortgage industry experience, not least from his time at Mortgage 2000. Incumbent MD and founder Ted York is retiring at the end of 2010 and has worked with Geoff Hall to build the best team to take Berkeley Alexander forward. Ted comments: “I’ve been in the industry for 40 years, and I’m proud to have built Berkeley Alexander into the business it is today. I couldn’t wish to leave my legacy in better hands – Geoff and his team will I know take the business onto bigger and better things and I’m really excited to see how the business will flourish under their management.” Geoff Hall comments about the future: “Berkeley Alexander occupies a unique place in the market, effectively offering mortgage brokers and IFAs an outsourced general insurance department. We can help their businesses significantly, especially at this uncertain time economically and we are committed to ensuring that that service continues to be as strong, if not stronger in the future. Everyone at Berkeley Alexander and indeed the wider mortgage brokers and IFA sector owes a huge thank you to Ted for his leadership and presence over the past 30 years. He has been instrumental in building general insurance sales within this sector and is responsible for many of the new initiatives made available to intermediaries, including the first low cost ASU policies and also launching age banded ASU products. I know that he will still be involved in the insurance industry whilst also spending time writing his second novel.” Hall continues: “Over the next few months, we will be introducing new initiatives to our insurer panel and product proposition across both our key lines of ASU and Building & Contents. We are currently one of the few GI providers still able to offer unemployment only and cover for existing mortgages, and we’re committed to offering a genuine choice and range of covers whatever our agents’ needs are.”
